MARC Field Day Update for June 22

Don’t be caught taking out the trash when opportunity knocks at the front door….

Saturday, June 27 is Field Day. We will start assembling at Swanton hall, 6460 N. Water Road, Edenville/Sanford MI 48657, around 10:00 though there will likely be some intrepid early birds there slightly earlier. We will have a talk in for the event and the Central Michigan Emergency Network has graciously allowed us to use the new 147.22 Repeater (Don’t forget positive offset and PL tones of 131.8 for both transmit and receive). I think you’ll find the coverage and audio both top notch. We appreciate their support of our activity.

We will also have an APRS beaconing radio squawking W8KEA-1 throughout the event and we can be found on APRS.fi.

Your field day team has been extremely busy pulling together and testing logging computers and antennas, we hope that you are able to come out and give it a whirl.

A lunch of cold cuts will be served around noon and the operating part of the event start at 2:00 in the afternoon.

I’ve been doing CW POTA activations all week and while the bands have some noise and QSB, they are in much better shape than a couple of weeks ago! While this is not a contest per se, we will try and do the best we can with what we have…

Dinner will be at 6:00 with a pot luck, BYOD (bring your own dessert) at 8:00. We will stop operations around 10:00, pack up and hopefully be heading home before midnight.

Hope to see you Saturday!
