The next meeting of the Midland Amateur Radio Club will be held Thursday, August 1. This meeting is open to all members and non-members alike.
This month’s presentation will be “Consumer Devices with Radio Components—RADAR !”, by Jack Robinson, K8GTG. A teaser for the presentation:
With your radio training, education, and experience, it is fun to examine ordinary devices and marvel at how they work. This month’s presentation will focus on RADAR, specifically police radar. We’ll cover the history of police radar, how they work, when they don’t work, and give a couple of demonstrations of actual police radar units. Do you own a radar detector? Bring it (and its 12v cigarette lighter cord for it) and we’ll see how well it performs. Cheap detectors are slow, and often so are driver’s reaction times. There will be a pop quiz: What does the acronym RADAR stand for? Do you have a new car/truck? Guess what, it likely has RADAR transmitters as part of the sensor package. Come find out!
